“The LA Weight
Loss
Diet
Just Didn’t Work For Me & Unfortunately,
It
Likely Won’t Work for You Either!”
My LA Weight
Loss
Diet
Experience
What you’ll
find in this open letter is information that will help you better
understand the LA Weight
Loss
Diet approach to losing weight and my experience
with
it. I wish I had this information before I spent my hard earned money
on the LA Weight Loss
Diet.
It's my hope that you will find
my
experiences and my recommendation to be of great value as you evaluate
your weight loss options.
Hi there.
My name is Jessica Seymour.
At the time I'm
writing this, I'm 38 years young and have a fantastic family of 5
including Craig my handsome hubby, and our 3 boys
- Conner, Alexander, and Trent. That's us below in a recent
picture.

I've been
pretty active and
physically fit for most of my life and didn't really have weight issues
until I gave birth to our first son Trent just over 5 years ago.
A year after giving birth to Trent, I still weighed 173 pounds and I
was so embarrassed about how much I weighed that I knew I had to do
something about it.
The extra
weight made my sleep fitful, my ankles
would swell up, and I would get headaches daily. Unfortunately though,
my body had so many aches and pains that I couldn’t find the energy or
will power to be more physically active, so I had to focus my efforts
on diet.
The first diet I tried was the Atkins
Diet. I had heard a lot
of mixed reviews about it over the years but decided to give it a shot
anyway just based on the fact that what stuck in my mind was how some
of my co-workers had dropped weight pretty quickly with it in the past.
You can read all about my Atkins experience further here.
My
next choice (because they make the food look so good in their
ads) was to try the Medifast
Meal Plan Diet program but
I should have known it wouldn't be that easy. My
Medifast experience proved to be a
short lived, eye opening experiment I’ll just call; “Can Guess what
meal you’re drinking now?” You can read about it here.
I then joined LA
Weight Loss, but
that turned out to be a huge mistake for a number of reasons which you
can read all about further on down this page.
About six
months after my LA Weight Loss fiasco,
I decided to give dieting another shot with The
Zone Diet program at the urging of a good friend whose father
had seen
good
results with it. Learn more about my unsuccessful Zone Diet
experience here.
The good news
is that at the time of writing letter, I weigh in at a healthy
and happy 128 pounds, I've lost what was a significant belly and most
of my
butt and have maintained this weight within a
couple of pounds for over two years now.

This despite
my lack of success with Atkins, Medifast, LA Weight Loss and
The Zone Diet.
My secret
weapon is a comprehensive weight loss program that uses “
Calorie
Shifting”, to deliver results; But...
before
we get to what is working for me, please take a few minutes to
read about my experience with the LA
Weight Loss Diet
program below.
About the LA Weight Loss Diet…
LA Weight Loss
is a program where you eat real food plus two soy protein bars (LA
Lites) per day. It is a program that teaches you how to eat healthy
foods in the right portions. It is not "low carb", but you won't be
eating a bowl full of pasta, either. It is based on "exchanges" so that
you eat in a balanced way every day. You will weigh in at your center
three times per week and receive one-on-one counseling. There are no
group sessions.
The program
consists
of three phases.
1) Weight
loss
2)
Stabilization, and,
3) Maintenance.
The Weight Loss
Phase is estimated in weeks based on how much you want to lose. They
estimate 2lb/week when setting up your program. So if you want to lose
30lbs, you will be purchasing 15 weight loss weeks.
Stabilization
is six weeks and Maintenance is 52 weeks. Why so long? Because it is
during this time you will reinforce your new behaviors so you will be
less likely to regain the weight you have lost.
LA Lites Bars:
The LA Lites
are soy protein bars, and are also available in shakes, hot chocolate
and soups. You will have two of these per day during weight loss and
one per day during maintenance. These are purchased from the center.
Cost:
You pay for your base program up front – fees vary. This includes your
weight loss weeks, six weeks of stabilization and 52 weeks of
maintenance. You will also be given a sales pitch for the LA Lites
Bars. They will offer you a discount if you purchase your Lites Bars
for the whole program up front. If you don't or can't do that, there
are other deals available at different times from the center. The cost
for the lites is between $20-$30/week depending on what bulk purchase
you do, and what other sales are offered in your center throughout your
program.
My experience
with the LA Weight Loss Diet…
I paid eight
hundred dollars up front for my program. I couldn't afford to
pre-purchase the LA Lites or the supplements in bulk but that didn’t
stop them from constantly pressuring me to buy them at every single
appointment. I made do by just buying a weeks worth at a time.
I found the
staff to be very unprofessional. They seemed to have little or no
nutritional training at all… and waiting to see a counselor for
Check-ins some days was awful - not because there were so many clients,
but because counselors were always in short supply. Add to this the
fact that the counselors tended to contradict each other with their
"nutritional" information and I soon learned not to put too much faith
in the nutritional advice they were giving out.
As a busy wife and mother of three... one of the
reasons I tried this rather than Weight Watchers was that LA Weight
Loss advertises no meetings... just quick check-ins. Check-ins did go
pretty quickly but unfortunately the wait to get in for my check-in
often took up to 30 minutes plus. Another downside to the check-ins was
that I rarely saw the same councilor twice. So it was tough to build up
any rapport or momentum with the counseling.
All that said;
I did have some good success with LA Weight Loss but not as much as
what I was hoping for. For the 3 months that I stayed on the program I
lost between 1 and 2 pounds per week – or a total of 18 pounds.
I was planning
to continue with this program despite the weakness of their councilors
and the high-pressure sales techniques but the fates decided otherwise.
Completely out of the blue the center that I had been going to closed
down. And to top it off, I didn't get any of my money back nor was I
ever contacted with any kind of explanation.
My Results…
Even though I
lost some money, LA Weight Loss was a good experience for me
in many ways. I managed to have my greatest weight loss success with
them and that success motivated me to continue my weight loss efforts.
That said, I'd urge caution before signing up with them based on their ongoing
financial troubles and the questionable ingredients that I later learned they put in their food
products.
3
Key Learning’s…
1) Do not rely on the LA Weight Loss consultants for sound dietary advice.
2) Do not assume that the foods that these weight loss centers sells is healthy.
Initially I never thought to look into the nutrition information of the
Lites bars but I later learned that among a whole host of unhealthy
ingredients, they contain a significant amount of high fructose
corn syrup, which is unhealthy.
3)
Expect pressure from the staff of LA Weight Loss to spend a significant
amount of money up front... but; you'd be wise to spend as you go so
you don't get burned like I did.
My personal
recommendation…
The troubles at LA
Weight Loss continue with word of locations shutting down every so
often. If you like their program and plan to give them a try, my
suggestion is to prepay as little up front as possible to protect
yourself from being burned financially.
As I mentioned earlier, after some trial
and error I did finally
find a program that I could work with and it's called
Fat
Loss For Idiots
As the name
implies, the
Fat
Loss For Idiots program really
is simple and it's also very inexpensive when compared to the other big
name diet options out there - but
don't let that fool you because it's
also extremely effective.
- A big
positive is that it works
without you needing to
radically change your lifestyle.
- It uses a
unique but simple approach called Calorie Shifting
which teaches you
how and when
to eat in order to turn your body into a fat burning furnace.
- It's convenient
because you eat
real food, that tastes great and that you buy at your local grocery
store for reasonable prices.
- You won't be
tempted to cheat because you eat 4-6
times per day, and NEVER feel hungry.
I'm
not
suggesting
this is an eat anything you like, as much as you like plan...but it
really is almost effortless, and the results are amazing!
You'll
change
your eating habits for life without even really trying.
That,
combined
with a real simple cardio plan worked wonders for me.
Ultimately,
I
guess I never really went on a "diet". I just changed my approach to
eating for the better, which helped me increase my energy and lose a
few pounds quickly, which enabled me to become more physically active.
It worked so
well, that my husband tried the “diet
thing” again and had
even better success than I did! Together, we reached our goal weights
and have been able to maintain them.
It's changed
our
lives and I'm confident that if you give it a fair shot, it can
change yours too!
Best of
luck, and
please be sure to
contact us to let us know about your success!!!
Yours
sincerely,
J.Seymour
